Welcome

  WELCOME

Welcome to the July praXis e-bulletin.  Despite the wonderful weather, those of you running arts and health projects are not resting on your laurels!  In this issue we have news about a number of exciting initiatives and opportunities from Coventry, Staffordshire, Birmingham and Warwickshire.  All fantastically proactive and meeting a whole range of health and wellbeing agendas.  Let’s aim to get more coverage from the East of the region for next issue and be sure to send us news of what you are doing.  If it’s communities participating in arts and health activity and it’s in the West Midlands, we’ll cover it!

Some of you will have noticed on the main praXis website that we have introduced a ‘News Update’ section.  Be sure to visit regularly and keep your eyes on these changing bulletins, which will profile the newest developments in arts and health.

Lastly don’t forget to complete our short on-line questionnaire, which will assist us with future planning and direction. This will only take ten minutes and will give us invaluable feedback.  Just click here to take the survey and many thanks for your support.

Please note the next e-bulletin will be published in September, so the deadline for submissions is Monday 16th August. We do hope you enjoy reading this issue and as ever, welcome your comments.

Best wishes

YOUR PROJECTS

Thank you to everyone who has submitted information, news, opportunities and comments on the praXis Community Pages – our online community is growing!  This month there is a request from Jessica Key, who is keen to volunteer on any arts and health projects.  You can also read about a REACH event in the South West (a project involving 18 health, arts and community organisations working to deliver on key public health priorities).  There is a major Public Health Conference taking place in the Autumn; and Willis Newson in partnership with the University of the West of England (UWE), is recruiting for the exciting new role of Evaluation and Research Lead.   And finally, getting fit for Summer - read all about the health benefits of Square Dancing!

Why not profile your project on the praXis Community Pages?  As long as it is participatory arts and health work which improves public health and wellbeing and supports community cohesion and regeneration, we can feature it. Events or projects which tackle major health priorities and issues, improve the quality of health care and health settings and have a positive impact on mental health will also be considered. Click here to register. We look forward to hearing from you!
