Consequences: Using the Arts to Promote Wellbeing
The Consequences event on 13th January was an unprecedented success. 150 delegates came along to Staffordshire University and our sincere thanks go to all the speakers, workshop leaders, organisers, helpers and of course participants who made the day such a triumph:
"Excellent event - really interesting keynote speech & thought provoking workshops. Great to see such a large number of delegates interested in arts and health, wellbeing and participation."
All delegates heard Sam Thompson from the New Economics Foundation talk about the evidence base for the Five Ways to Wellbeing Programme. You can download his presentation here. Then there was an opportunity to post and leave questions for Sam. Afterwards he had the opportunity to read and answer some of these, which we recorded on video.
You can view his responses here.

"(There was) lots of information which is poignant
and more importantly useful for my work and community."

Delegates could also choose from almost 20 workshops throughout the day, held in morning and afternoon sessions.
The topics covered included using new technology to involve people in debate; working with young people to refurbish an NHS clinic; building community cohesion through arts based approaches; responding to issues via the medium of radio;
and ethics for participatory practitioners. You will find useful links to a selection of the workshop leaders' presentations and websites here.
