Arts and Health Training

The Artist Professional Development Programme is run annually by Staffordshire University in Stoke on Trent, usually between February and April. It is a high profile, region-wide course and is one of the first fully accredited arts and health professional development programmes in the UK.
Commissioning Organisations
If your organisation is interested in supporting the training of artists, arts development workers and health or community workers in participatory arts and health work, why not join the Employer’s Forum which is linked to the course? This Forum will represent the interests of organisations from the health, arts and community sectors and will provide an opportunity to meet and share experiences, learn and support one another. Some of the members will be providing a learning opportunity for students through the Artist Professional Development Programme, but the Forum is open to a wide membership.
Students
As well as undertaking a practical project in collaboration with an arts or health sector partner, students will learn about the structure of the health service and current health policies, as well as about the national and regional contexts of arts and health practice. They will have time to explore the role of an arts and health worker as well as an opportunity to gain skills in negotiating at different levels within the health sector and providing evidence of the success of their projects. The Artist Professional Development Programme is accredited at certificate level 3 and at Masters level.
