It's Good To Be You Artist Residencies
Exploring, celebrating and promoting positive emotional health through creativity.
It's Good To Be You is an arts and health project by Dudley Public Health and Creative Health. During 2011 artists worked in seven Dudley schools to plan, design and create artworks for their school with artists, focusing on key emotional health and wellbeing messages. Click here for more information about these residencies. Dudley Public Health, Dudley Association of Governing Bodies and Creative Health CIC have teamed up to offer It's Good To Be You Artist Residencies. This project provides a unique opportunity for a primary and a secondary school to promote emotional wellbeing and mental health to children and young people through a visual art project delivered by experienced, professional artist.
About the Artist Residency Projects
The residencies offer two winning Dudley schools the opportunity to develop and deliver a new visual art project with artists Laura Hickman (for primary schools) and Rich Franks (for secondary schools). Each school group will be taken on a creative journey exploring and discussing key emotional health messages in depth, promoting wellbeing, inspiring creativity and leading to a piece of artwork that can be enjoyed by the whole school and displayed for as long as the school wishes.
How to Apply
Artists Laura and Rich have produced invitations that invite you to apply for their residency project, schools will be selected for the project based on their creative responses to the invitation. Your response needs to tell us about you, the group you are working with and why you want to have an artist in residence at your school. Be creative with your response and involve the children and young people in it, any art form will be accepted – you can make a short film, write letters, draw pictures or take photographs – its up to you!
