Year 2 - Chewing It Over

In 2007 they developed and managed a pilot initiative - ‘Chewing It Over’ - with creativityteam as the facilitating body.
This was a community writing project which took place across the Black Country, and regional arts agency The Moving Finger was commissioned to deliver the creative work. It used creative writing and storytelling to explore children and young people’s relationship with food and to promote healthy eating.
The project culminated in the publication of two magazines (‘Yum’ and ‘Chew on It’) which featured creative work produced by the children and young people involved. These were distributed across the Black Country.
The project was evaluated using a range of targets (including health-based outcomes) which the local groups felt their projects would realistically meet. These were measured with specific evaluation tools, using a range of supporting evidence which was jointly agreed by arts, health and community sector representatives.
