Arts and Reminiscence Programme
The Arts and Reminiscence Programme is a direct response to Wolverhampton Council’s Forward Plan for people living with dementia. It aims to improve access to universal services and prevention services and is a partnership between Wolverhampton Arts and Heritage and Wolverhampton Putting People First Team.
The programme uses the unique collections within Wolverhampton Arts and Heritage to provide therapeutic activities. These aim to promote positive mental wellbeing and improve quality of life. A series of monthly and weekly activities are run, some of these particularly suitable for people living with dementia and their carers and those experiencing memory difficulties.
The activities are aimed at ensuring that elderly and vulnerable adults can begin to make choices on how they spend their leisure time and can continue to engage in cultural and learning activity which is enjoyable and thought provoking, thus building confidence and improving quality of life.
All of the activities are free of charge for the current year, with a view to providing a self-financing service for the future.
